Books

Below are some of my favourite books.

Astrology; Using the wisdom of the stars in your everyday life

Carole Taylor

When a client or a friend asks me what is the best book for learning astrology from the basics, I recommend this one. On top of the clear explanation of the meaning of the planets, signs, houses and aspects, it also provides an opportunity to go a level deeper and start working on your own chart. The book’s beautiful illustrations and high quality finish makes it a jewel on your book shelf.

The contemporary astrologer’s handbook

Sue Tompkins

This is the book I open when I need some food for thought on the interpretation of a chart element. The rich description of the Moon by sign or a general introduction to different generations via the outer planets’ placement is a great help for any practicing astrologer but also to those who are investigating their own or loved ones charts. The author provides useful tips how to create a synthesis in a chart interpretation and offers a very practical interpretation checklist.

Getting to the heart of your chart

Frank C. Clifford

It is not easy to share knowledge in an entertaining way, but this book is a great example. The author introduces a very practical approach to chart interpretations and provides plenty of examples along the way. One of the unique elements of this book is the exploration of many biographies via the birth chart. This book is one of those rare ones which you probably will read from the first page till the last rather than randomly slam it open for investigating a certain placement.

The essential guide to practical astrology

April Elliott Kent

This is another excellent astrology book for beginners which is informative and easy-to-understand. The tone and the structure of the book make it possible to soak in all the information on the building blocks of astrology. I especially like the part which describes the different circles (daily, monthly, yearly) and offers practical tips how to use those in practical sense.

Planets in houses

Robert Pelletier

I usually open this book when I would like to explore a deeper or broader meaning of a certain house. In this sense this book is more useful for advanced astrologers who would like to have an extensive understanding of the 12 houses and the planets inside. The book offers a detailed and systematic presentation of the derivative house system and such is quite unique. Not the easiest read for me personally but provides excellent insight into this approach.

The Psychology of Astro*Carto*Graphy

Jim Lewis with Kenneth Irving

One of my personal favorites due to its topic. I fell in love with A*C*G or re-locational astrology quite early in my astro journey. The books explains how different places offer significantly different experiences for the same person. This book helped me understand how my physical move from Hungary to Luxembourg affected all the different aspects of my life: my personality, my professional and private life, my approach to the world and my place in it. I open this book when I do re-locational reading or do case study. Perfect book for Sagittarians (like myself)!

Chart interpretation handbook

Stephen Arroyo

This is a short, simple but excellent book to give you guidelines for the interpretation of planetary placements, houses and aspects. I particularly like the part on the Ascendant where the author describes the subtle differences between e.g. Aquarius Ascendant and Aquarius Sun. Such an insight I haven’t seen in any other book so far.

Horoscope snapshots

Frank C. Clifford

Another excellent book from the author which provides practical examples to interpret various topics. This book I would recommend to advanced astrology readers as it shows plenty of examples on how to use already existing knowledge. The book has a noticeable psychological undertone which makes the reading of the different essays very interesting and meaningful.

Planets in transit

Robert Hand

I often open this book when I need some thought provoking ideas about certain transits. This is a very thorough content which provides excellent support during any forecasting work. I use therefore more like a cook book which I slam open when I need some inspiration. An absolute must-have book for a consulting astroleger.
