Happy Returns, Sagittarius!

On the 22nd of November, just after 9am (CET) the Sun moves from deep and intense Scorpio into optimistic, curious and freedom-loving Sagittarius. The Sun’s movement from the fixed Water sign to a mutable Fire sign also indicates the transition period from Autumn to Winter. We say goodbye to the colorful leaves and soon welcome the first snow of the season.

Sagittarius is adventurous, open-minded and loves to discover new places both physically (travelling) and mentally (studying). The Archer is not interested in digging into the facts, they want to explore the possibilities beyond the facts. They are on a quest to find answers to the big questions in life: what is the meaning of life? Where are we coming from? What happens after death? Is there a God?

Once they think they have found the answer or at least getting closer to it, they are willing to share that with everyone with great enthusiasm. They have the distinct ability to transfuse their zest and excitement into others, therefore they make great teachers. At the same time, born with a voracious appetite for knowledge, they are the true representers of lifelong learning.

Sagittarius is said to be the luckiest sign as its ruling planet, Jupiter, is the planet of good luck and abundance. While it sounds great, it also represents the biggest trap for this sign. They might count on their luck too much and ignore risks and become careless or even lazy. Sagittarians like to think big and aim high which also brings the risk of overpromising and underdelivering. Their honesty can appear to others as bluntness or even rudeness. The Sagittarian optimism can turn into deep depression in case of loss of meaning or when their highly aimed arrow hits below target.

I must admit, I might have an innate bias towards this sign as both myself and my husband have our Sun (and plenty of other planets) in Sagittarius. I celebrate and enjoy the general optimism and curiosity it brings while consciously trying to avoid the potential pitfalls: starting too many things, but not finishing any, overloading the brain, developing unrealistic expectations…

You see, none of the signs are good or bad, they all have different virtues and flaws. A birth chart reading can help you understand how you can best utilize the different planetary placements in your personal chart to your advantage.
